Matteo Costa, piano

A graduate in Mathematics, he graduated with honors at the age of 19 from the "N. Paganini" Conservatory in Genoa. After completing his lower studies in Composition, he earned a Master's Degree in Music with a focus on Concert Performance with honors from the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Turin.

A winner of numerous national and international competitions, he attended chamber music courses taught by Marcello Bianchi, Daniela Demicheli, and Nicholas Chumachenko; he then specialized in solo repertoire with Daniela Demicheli. He also attended courses taught by Aldo Ciccolini, Bruno Canino, and Piernarciso Masi at the Florence Music Academy and the Sesto Fiorentino School of Music. He also earned a three-year advanced diploma with Bruno Canino at the "G. Marziali" Academy in Seveso. In October 2005, he earned the two-year postgraduate diploma in teaching with top honors from the "G. Verdi" Conservatory of Turin. In 2007, he earned a three-year diploma in chamber music for harpsichord and string instruments from the Academy of Ancient Sacred Music of San Rocco in Alessandria.

He has collaborated as director and concertmaster with several polyphonic choirs; furthermore, at the Diocesan Academy of Ancient Sacred Music of San Rocco (AL), he served as harpsichord accompanist during the Baroque vocal masterclasses taught by Luca Franco Ferrari.

Having begun his concert career at a very young age, while still a student at the Conservatory, he is regularly invited by numerous musical institutions in Italy and abroad—including Saint-Vincent, Alessandria, Turin, Venice, Scandicci, Florence, Catania, Biella, Bologna, Trento, Weinsberg, Heidelberg, Gundelsheim, Bad Wimpfen, and Villajoyosa—to give solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and orchestral performances.

He is an active teacher: he is Principal Piano Professor at the "A. Vivaldi" Conservatory in Alessandria and regularly holds advanced courses in piano and chamber music.

He is President and Artistic Director of the Pantheon ETS Association.
