Two Nights of Music in San Francisco

2007 was a year in which Zephyr solidified much of its forward growth and aspiration. Photographs of Zephyr 2006 were reprinted on both the cover and inside of The Strad Magazine (Summer Plus 2007), we have been mentioned in numerous publications, and our San Francisco events were more successful than ever.

On March 18 Zephyr held its second fund-raising concert at San Francisco's beautiful Metropolitan Club, again thanks to the generosity of board member Julia Cheng. Schumann's splendid Piano Quartet in E Flat Major, Opus 47, was performed by Zephyr faculty artists Bettina M, Judi Levitz, Angela Lee and Mack McCray, and the audience again enjoyed noble wines from Italy and the delicious food of the Metropolitan Club.

Major donors were treated to a thank-you supper/concert on May 19 at the home of Dr. Gary Rust, where they heard performances by pianist Mack McCray and a string quartet of Zephyr students (Caitlin McSherry and Jackie Murchie, violins; Jennifer Diaz, viola; and Charles Akert, cello) performing Haydn's String Quartet in G Major, Opus 77, No. 1. The audience was served a spectacular meal of capellini pasta with basil and fresh tomatoes, Osso Bucco and a famous San Francisco Italian dessert, Sacre Pantina, with (of course!) Italian wine. This is the beginning of what we hope will become a regular concert series in this City, Zephyr in San Francisco.
