A new aspect of Zephyr for 2008 was Donors Week. Five friends of Zephyr, who had given generous gifts to our scholarship fund, chose to visit the festival during its final week. Julia Cheng, Dr. William Miller, Dr. Stanley Yantis, Dr. Gary Rust and Dr. Susan Waltzman arrived in Courmayeur in time to hear our concerts in Cogne, Gran St. Bernard and Courmayeur. Zephyr arranged for them to stay at the lovely four-star hotel Villa Novecento, and they were able to sit in on our rehearsals, coachings and every performance. They also rode the funivia to the top of Mt. Blanc, and enjoyed wonderful dinners at the unique restaurants Cadran de Soleil and La Grolla. We all took the bus together to Moneglia for the final two days of the festival. Our Donor Guests enjoyed the spectacular sunny weather of the Italian Riviera, great seafood dishes, and the brilliant concluding concert at Chiostro di San Giorgio. Two of the donors stayed with us a while longer: William Miller found some rare and wonderful wines in the small and famous town of Barbaresco, and Julia Cheng enjoyed the charms of Cherasco and the great beauties of Torino. Everybody had a fine time and some unique experiences, and we were all glad to share our Zephyr experiences with these generous friends.
